Giovanna Amati was replaced by Damon Hill, after her 3 GPs, who incidentally also failed to qualify in the same car.
Giovanna Amati was the Champion in the Women's European Porsche SuperCup, the year after her F1 experience.
Before she started her racing career, Giovanna Amati made the headlines as the result of a harsh experience as a youngster: she was kidnapped and held for ransom (her father being a wealthy Italian businessman).
Giovanna Amati is involved with racing related activities up to date (including Italian television RAI-UNO's GP coverage) and still competes in woman's racing (among which the Women's' GT Global Series) as well as in sporadic Italian races.
