which, in turn, celebrates the Dutch Royal surname⁄color: House of Orange.
See Italy for an analogous account underlying the
National Squad's colors, the main difference being that Italy's color
connection is now historical, whereas the Dutch remains current..
It is worth remarking, in this context, that the same Orange color

car racing championship that entitles itself
The World Cup of Motor Racing.)

Footnote:
Marco van Basten, the youngest of the four Dutch coaches who will be leading a National Squad, in Germany, has been one of the most talented international strikers and, in the Netherlands, probably only second to Johan Cruyff, as a player. Van Basten has been European best player several times, even though his career has been marked by a number of serious ankle injuries, which unfortunately culminated with an early retirement. During his career, he defended both Dutch and Italian Clubs (Ajax and ACMilan, respectively), in addition to the Dutch National Squad. Marco van Basten had been training young players, in Ajax, when he was called to take over the National Squad coaching duties. So far, he has been greatly successful, even though he has mostly been using young Dutch players – versus the Dutch players who have already made an international name. The Netherlands' high ranking by FIFA is but a confirmation of Marco van Basten's achievements leading the Dutch Squad, despite his little experience as a coach. But given his talent as a soccer player, perhaps that's all he'd really need to be successful, now, in a coaching career. Who knows Marco van Basten will not turn into the leader of another wonder team from the Netherlands?...

Note: For the other three Dutch coaches who will be working in Germany-2006, see the entries for Australia, Korea Republic, and Trinidad and Tobago. The only other nation to count on several coaches at the World Cup, in Germany, is Brazil.
