°° Goal scored in Germany-2006 (if bracketed, {}='own goal')

also took part in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups.

José Cardozo, named in the original squad, had to pull out due to a serious muscle injury
sustained in the run-up to the tournament (June 6). He was replaced by Dante Lopes.
This is a lamentable loss for the Paraguayans, as Cardozo is not only a very
experienced and talented player, but also was their most talented goal-scorer.

Goalkeeper Justo Villar was injured only eight minutes into the match against England,
due to a muscle injury in his right leg, and will likely not play again in the World Cup.
