Footnote:
At the very start of his career, Guus Hiddink led PSV Eindhoven to win the European Club Championship, today called "Champions League." Internationally, he has worked at Valencia and Real Madrid (Spain), among many other clubs, especially in Europe. As mentioned above, he was hugely successful in the previous World Cup, in which the (South) Korean Squad managed a remarkable 4th place, under his guidance. It was most likely this great success that motivated the Australian Squad to hire his expert services. Guus Hiddink continues coaching PSV Eindhoven, in the Netherlands, even though he is also responsible for the Australian Squad. He must thus be very busy, dividing himself between two continents!
