  Team – Founded: 1928 – Affiliated: 1948
Confederation: AFC - Asia

Squad's local nickname: Taeguk Warriors and Asian Tigers (see blue coat of arms, above)
The Taeguk symbol, embodying the Yin-Yang mutual complementation and oneness, is
displayed on the Korean Republic's National Flag. As in the Flag,
the Taeguk symbol is usually portrayed in red and blue,
the Squad's colors.
Understandably, the Taeguk represents a vivid patriotic or nationalistic symbol.

Footnote:
Dick Advocaat, as mentioned above, has been in charge of the Dutch National Squad–1994 World Cup–and in fact, until fairly recently. He first became known as coaching assistant to the famous Rinus Michels, who led the Dutch Squad (Michels was the coach of that fabulous "Dutch Carrousel" which marveled the World in the seventies). Dick Advocaat has led teams outside the Netherlands, as well, such as in Scotland and in Germany. He must have been hired for the (South) Korean National Squad, both due to the fact that he had been coaching the Dutch National Squad and due to Ruus Hiddink's huge success in Korea, in the former World Cup (see here). Can the Dutch-Korean chemistry work so fantastically again, now in Germany? Let us wait and see!
