(overall references: using country flags, below, or country-name abbreviations, whichever you find easier, for match-reference at a glance)
The match-schedule overview continues below – now with the know-out stages of the World Cup. As on the previous page, match dates are displayed on the left column, and the stadia, across. The dark horizontal lines separate the different World Cup stages (First Round, Round of Sixteen, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final Matches – both the 3rd.place Match and the Final Match proper). The only information that could not fit, below, is the time for each match and the match number, both of which you can access by clicking on any of the links given just above.
Also available is a page (in this sub-Section) displaying information on the flags you see below. So, just click here, if you don't remember what Nation a given flag stands for.
Finally, right below the Table that follows, the provisional letters and numbers are explained, for your convenience. These letters and number are used to refer to matches the contenders of which are not yet known, and therefore the respective flags cannot yet be used.

Teams'
performances &
possibilities:
Provisional references, above:
1A...1H: top Squad per Group
2A...2H: 2nd placed Squad per Group
(in parentheses): match Nr.⁄letter
All match Nr.⁄letter references, above:
- when in parentheses, they provisionally serve to identify the match indicated right above them – these matches take place in the Round of Sixteen (matches identified by numbers in parentheses) and in the Quarter-Finals (matches identified by letters in parentheses);
- when no parentheses are used, a pair of numbers⁄letters (between which appears an " x ") identify Squads playing in the Quarter- and Semi-Finals, and these numbers⁄letters refer, each, back to the winner of the respective match played in the Round of Sixteen or the Quarter Finals.
All these provisional references just spelled out will of course be updated (i.e., substituted by the proper country-flag reference), as the World Cup gets underway and match results and the final Group standings become known. Then sixteen of the flags now displaying at random on the bottom row will be replacing the provisional letters and numbers on the table. Stay tuned!
